Food Replacement Grows its Own Success

Food science and food technology are coming together to create a new and growing category - food replacement. As more consumers move away from meat and find interest in plant-based offerings, startups are popping up by the dozens in the market (and they're doing quite well).


Companies like Hampton Creek, Soylent, and Beyond Meat are taking textures and flavors of fish, eggs, meat, etc. and replacing them with plant-based versions to appeal to vegetarians and vegans and they're also catching the eyes of meat-eaters alike. These brands are growing in popularity, which means they're growing in profit and getting investors interested in finding ways to fund the expansion of their product lines with the proper technology to support their development.
